Thornhill Members to Compete in Canadian Amateur Championship

We are thrilled to announce that two of our talented members, Luke Smith and Matthew Spadacini, have qualified to play in the prestigious Canadian Amateur Championship golf tournament. This highly anticipated event will take place in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan, from August 3-8.

Luke and Matthew have both enjoyed outstanding competitive seasons this summer, earning their spots in the largest amateur golf event in Canada and the sixth largest internationally. The championship will feature a field of 150 players from around the world, with Luke and Matthew securing their places as Ontario representatives. This remarkable achievement is a testament to their dedication, skill, and hard work.

To the best of our knowledge, this marks the first time in several decades, if not ever, that two members from Thornhill will compete in the Canadian Amateur Championship in the same year. While we recall past successes, such as the possible participation of both Hoffman brothers and Charlie Fitzsimmons, this year's representation by Luke and Matthew stands out as an extraordinary milestone.

Luke, at just 16 years old, will also be competing in the Canadian Junior Amateur (U19) Championship in Alberta the following week. As one of the top players in the field, Luke's future in golf looks incredibly bright.

We are incredibly proud of Luke and Matthew and their exceptional accomplishments. Please join us in wishing them the best of luck as they represent Thornhill on this prestigious national stage. Let's rally behind them and celebrate their success as they embark on this exciting journey.
